Free Will
The Bible states that man is a creation of God. While man's body was brought into existence from
the dust of the ground, man's life was derived directly from God, for the scriptures tell us that God
"breathed into the nostril the breath of life, and man became a living soul" (1). This soul was created
in the image of God (2), and for fellowship with Him.
The Bible teaches there are three parts to the nature of man: spirit, soul, and body (3). Adam and
Eve were free moral agents, with innocence and holiness in nature. They had the power of choice,
and after a time of testing, Adam and Eve, yielding to Satan, fell into sin. The power of choice is still
given to mankind today, It is man's responsibility to make choices in harmony with God's will as
revealed in the Bible.
