Our Leader
Russell Traweek serves as pastor of The People's Fellowship as well as Chocolate Bayou Baptist Church which
has birthed this new intentional community.
Russell became a Christian as a young boy at the age of 9 and later in college felt called to serve God in a larger
capacity. He has served churches all over the state of Texas in various ways using his God-given talents and gifts.
He graduated from the University of Houston at Clear Lake with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and
values his degree as something to help understand people's lives and better equip them to live as whole and
complete people in Christ...physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Russell considers himself, "a conversational preacher who takes you by the hand and leads you through God's
Word." His desire is to bring the Bible alive for people so that they can see that it applies to the lives of everyone
today and calls all people to live a true, authentic life in Christ Jesus.
He was raised in a broken home and understands the many struggles that families and people in general go through.
He feels even more blessed that God called him out of those hardships and minister to and serve those who are
struggling, not only with issues of life, but more importantly, the issue of eternal life.
Russell's role as Senior Pastor is to be the spiritual leader, the primary Bible teacher, and the communicator of the
vision, mission, and values of The People's Fellowship. Russell and his wife, Shelly, have three children: Grace,
Aaron and Elijah.
